On February 14th, 2019, a dark cloud fell over India. The explosion ripped through a CRPF bus, claiming the lives of 40 brave jawans.

Beyond the Headlines: The Human Cost

Guru hailed from the Maddur of Mandya district of the state and is among 39 soldiers who were martyred in the suicide attack in Pulwama of Jammu and Kashmir on February 14. Talking to News18, Guru’s brave wife Kalavathi said she came to know about the death of her husband after 11 PM.

“I received a call from my husband yesterday but I was unable to take it as I was preoccupied with some work. By the time I called back, his phone was out of reach. I had the chance to speak to him one last time, but my fate was as fatal as that of was my husband,” tears kept flowing while she said these words.

“I demand my husband back. If those who protect the borders continue to die all the time then send them back to their homes. At least let them care for their families,” she added.
